One of my favourite ever films Sarge, good hit.
Too lazy to see if already done but Doc in back to the future.
Otherwise one of our own takes some beating in my favorite ever film.
Nurse Rachet in one flew over the cuckoo's nest.

That's the role he got after the 'horses head in a bed' seen in Godfather, though it's been denied by several people, including Sinatra.
His career was at rock bottom at that time though.

Sarge Robert Shaw monologue about the USS Indianapolis in Jaws. Steven Spielberg was so impressed with Shaw' s monologue story delivery he considered in making a pre- sequel film based on the USS Indianapolis.

R Lee Emey in Full Metal Jackets , he single handedly made that movie into a classic. Should have won an Oscar for best supporting actor.

That scene where Smiley goes to visit her at the college is sublime. When I watched the movie I just felt sorry for Gary Oldman & Kathy Burke trying to follow Alec Guinness & Beryl Reid

If we can stretch this to TV series, then Beryl Reid in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
There was an underlying power that she carried without emphasis in the role.
I worked with someone eerily similar to her character during the first year of my (GPO) apprenticeship - fully supportive but everybody - and I mean everybody - knew not to cross her.
I know that you're so impressed with that nugget of pointless information that you will have to have a pop - go on, you know you want to.
